Connect with Chua Soi Lek

Really?

"Get to know more about MCA President,
Dr. Chua on his political belifes and upcoming events."

If I like it I may get to meet him? Seriously? 117,511 people like him at the moment

“We no longer want to be a party which looks at an issue from a Malay, Chinese or Indian perspective.

“Rather, we need to change our mindset and way of thinking so that it embraces all races, cultures and beliefs. We must all bear in mind that irrespective of race or income status we are all shareholders of the country.”

He is representative of the *Malaysian Chinese Association*.

Go rename yourself. Rethink your actions. Race based politics is dated, but you're part of the problem Chua.

Najib launches social media group to intensify BN's cyber campaign

At the first ever such convention, Najib also gave the pro-Barisan social media users "official recognition", calling them the new army for the party in the virtual world.

"So this is your role as cyber warriors. Our social media army can 'turun padang' (get to the ground), but not by rolling up your sleeves and trouser legs.

"Bring out your iPads, iPhones, Blackberries and laptops. These are our weapons as the cyber warriors," he said to applause by the some 2,000 participants.

Malaysia & Microsoft (WAS: Putin says Russia's government to migrate to OSS)

One of the biggest problems has been user resistance: they simply don't want to swap from Windows.

That's precisely what Microsoft bet on in Malaysia where former Prime Minster Mahathir announced that the government would migrate to Linux and other open source software. Within weeks, schools were given a variety of Microsoft product. That resistance to change is powerful especially when started young.

Now, five years later, government departments still do not accept documents in OpenOffice.Org.

Unsubscribe.com grows to certifications! Fwd: Unsubscribe.com Owes You

Impressive. They are refunding their customers and pivoting to offer certifications, similar to Web of Trust model of trust seals (think of certifications as trust seals for email). And with the service being 100% free for end users, you get more users (providing a useful service) and eventually more people have to buy-in to getting certified if they want to have email marketing going.

Good strategy, and I wish team unsubscribe.com well :-)

Subject: Unsubscribe.com Owes You

Dear Colin,

Thank you for being one of our paying customers, your trust and support helped propel us to where we are today.

With that being said, I'm excited to tell you that beginning yesterday, August 4th, 2011, we have made our full suite of products (Email Unsubscribe and Social Monitor) completely free, which means we owe you the pro-rated amount of $2.24 and have discontinued any further billing.

Please fill out this quick form on your Account Settings page so that we can send you a refund check. We would like to simply refund your card, however that is not something we can do with our current payment processor so we will instead have to send you a physical check, sorry.

Thank you again and we look forward to keeping your inbox clean and your social networks secured.

Team Unsubscribe

P.S. If you'd like to know more about why we went free, here you go...

We never wanted to charge for the Unsubscribe consumer service. When we started Unsubscribe.com our cost to handle each customer's request was considerably high. The only way we could maintain the product was by charging for it- until now. By focusing on technology and building a kick ass team, we've managed to significantly lower costs and the result is that starting yesterday, August 4th, 2011, we made the product 100% free to consumers.

So now you're thinking, "Are these guys free so they can sell my data?" The answer is NO- we do not sell any personal data that we capture through our service. Our mission has been, and always will be, to protect you from companies that are using your data.

"OK, so are you volunteers?" No, we are not. Through testing we have come up with alternative ways of making money, one example that you can see is our certification business.

If you have any questions please contact us at support@unsubscribe.com. In addition, if you have any worries about the details of what we do please check out our privacy policy.

‪8TV Ramadan PSA TV ads insulting chinese Malaysia 2011‬‏ - YouTube

I'm disappointed with 8TV. Then again, I wonder if this is the general consensus? Sure the ads were pulled, but do the following morals even make sense?

Do not be loud & obnoxious
Do be polite & discreet

Do not be greedy & eat in public
Do be considerate to others

Do not wear tight & revealing clothes
Do wear appropriate attire

I see that as freedom to encroach on what I can wear. I also see that as freedom to be able to eat where I please and when I please.

Malaysia has been known for touting human rights... Abuse my freedoms and I'm sure I'm not the only one who believes this fundamentalism should die. Will it show during election time?

The two-way medium for politicians

I chuckled when I saw this. There's lots of praise and negativity on the Prime Minister's page.

Then I see this: http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/7/23/nation/9160765&sec=nation
“The ministers and I have to meet the people. We have to tell them that they can depend on the Barisan Nasional government and that the Barisan is their best choice,” the Prime Minister said in his address to about 3,000 people who welcomed him at KL International Airport after returning from an eight-day visit to Turkmenistan, the United Kingdom and Italy.

He's right. People can now directly voice their opinions on his facebook page. The mainstream media can continue to lie about popularity, but it will definitely make the PM shudder knowing the truth
